The Hawaii State Department of Health has confirmed that at
least 40 new cases of alleged liver failure have been linked to OxyElite Pro
(OEP), a controversial pre-workout and weight loss dietary supplement.
As a result of these events, the Department of Health sent out an alert
to medical professionals around the country requesting that doctors and
dietitians report any patients suffering from liver conditions who were
taking OxyElite Pro or other similar dietary supplements. The active
ingredient in OEP, dimethylamylamine (DMAA), has recently been linked to
heart attacks, heat strokes, seizures, liver failure, and death.
